Undeterred by the pandemic, our elementary students recently took a virtual field trip to destinations all over the Philippines. They visited beautiful sites in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The theme of the event was “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.” At the end of the event, the students learned a dance to accompany the well-known song.
Participants learned that Binondo is one of the best food destinations in Manila, and the world’s oldest Chinatown. They viewed the beautiful, historic architecture of Vigan, a UNESCO site. The students also visited the fantastic beaches of Palawan and the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. The floral parade of Davao was truly enchanting. The event included performances from the St. Stephen’s Filipiñana Dance Troupe and the Stephenian Movers.
The successful field trip was organized by the Acting Head of the Elementary OSA, Miss Conchita Lim who is an alumna. Miss Abigail Calma, the school’s Filipiñana Dance instructor, acted as the tour guide.
Student Council officers lead much of the event. Danielle So served as the Master of Ceremony. Jordan Wong offered the opening prayer. Tiffany Tang offered a patriotic rendition of the Lupang Hinirang. The closing prayer was offered by Patricia Pataroque for the morning session and Stephanie Tan in the afternoon. Jessica Lim ended the event by leading the group in singing the school song. Photos were taken by Cedric Chan.
