St. Stephen’s High School is nearing the completion of a new footbridge that will unite its elementary and high school campuses. In the past, students traveled across the two campuses by crossing La Torre Street, under the watchful eye of St. Stephen’s dedicated guards.

Beginning next academic year, young Stephenians will be able to make the passage in complete safety, high above the busy thoroughfare.

St. Stephen’s has long been blessed with one of the largest facilities of its kind in Downtown Manila. Thanks to the generosity of its alumni, the campuses are home to 3 libraries, 6 laboratories, a swimming pool, 3 gymnasiums, 2 Audio Visual Rooms, the spacious Stephenian Hall, and one of the most beautiful auditoriums in the city. The footbridge will allow all Stephenians to travel freely to every part of its campuses.

The pedestrian bridge joins the elementary and high school campuses via St. Stephen’s new Student Center. This beautiful new building was designed by Architect Patrick Andrew Tanhuanco, who is an alumnus of the school. The center will house a new canteen, individual music practice rooms, group practice rooms, student club offices, and a garden rooftop. Large spaces are reserved for students to gather together for collaboration and fellowship.

“The footbridge represents our commitment to student safety,” said Mrs. Margaret Belton, School Chief Operating Officer. “It reminds us that we are all important to the Stephenian community, whether we are in kindergarten or senior high.”

“The new Student Center reinforces our core educational philosophy of educating the whole child: mind, body, and heart in community,” said Dr. Judy Go Tan, Principal. “It will be a place where our students can come together, share their thoughts, and experience true fellowship.”
