Specific Objectives
Programs
To realize these goals, the Department has implemented:
Enriched English Curriculum
- Phonics and Reading, the most consistently successful of all language acquisition strategies, are foundational to our program
- The love of reading is encouraged through the Read Aloud book club
- Students acquire language skills through carefully selected songs, play, storytelling, and worksheets
Enriched Math program
- Age-appropriate mathematical concepts are presented through interactive games and play
- Students acquire skills through songs, games, and worksheets

Strong Physical Development program
- Weekly physical training classes
- Training and development of gross and fine motor skills are presented systematically with the use of age-appropriate educational tools and manipulatives
- Because Mandarin is not commonly spoken in the streets of Manila, St. Stephen’s High School teaches Chinese as a second language. This method best meets the needs of language learners living in the Philippines.
- Our teaching methods focus on the practical acquisition of the language as opposed to rote memorization of progressively obscure vocabulary.
- Students apply their skills through extensive listening and speaking exercises.
- The children learn skills through songs, rhymes, storytelling, play, and writing.
- To introduce the Chinese culture, we celebrate special occasions such as the Mid- Autumn Festival and Chinese Lunar New Year which are integrated into the lessons.
