Our youngest Stephenians are enjoying their newly renovated Early Childhood classrooms and hallways. Freshly painted walls, floors, and ceilings invite the students into a space with endless possibilities for educational achievement. Classroom accents festooned with primary colors excite the children’s imaginations.
The classrooms are not just beautiful. They are also functional. Our Early Childhood teachers make liberal use of classroom manipulatives that stimulates all 5 senses: sight, touch, hearing, smelling, and tasting. Each classroom now has ample cabinet space to neatly store and organize these materials.
Bright, lightweight furniture can be easily moved to suit many different lesson plans. New lighting systems illuminate every corner of the classroom. New fixtures have been installed in the bathrooms attached to each classroom. Child-sized cubbies neatly store the student’s indoor shoes.
A new Smartboard has been placed in every Early Childhood classroom. The teacher can program creative lessons before classes begin. Students can manipulate objects on the board to reinforce the lesson. The picture is so clear that the natural life of faraway continents comes to life inside the classroom.
“The renovation of our Early Childhood classrooms will be a great benefit to our curriculum,” said Mrs. Margaret Belton, School Chief Operating Officer. “One of our main objectives at this age is to fill the child with a love of learning. A homey and inviting space is the perfect environment to nurture this affection.”
“The Early Childhood classroom renovation fits perfectly with our desire to educate the whole child: mind, body, and heart in community,” said Dr. Judy Go Tan, Principal. “The children are so excited to come to school and explore God’s beautiful creation. This has encouraged us to continue to improve our Early Childhood facilities.”
