Stephenian Teams made a Name for the School through Pasta Art Contest
Italy, a country that boasts of its picturesque landmarks and a place equally best known for its antiquity and serenity. Aside from this, the country is also known a haven of pasta dishes. Pasta, of all sizes and shapes can be found in Italy, and these pasta gave the organizer an idea to sponsor a contest which can only be described as “pasta-rrific”.
Last Oct. 14, SSHS high school students were invited to participate in the Doña Elena Al Dente Pasta Month 2016 Pasta Art Contest at the Mercato Centrale, BGC, Taguig City. Participating students are to create Italy’s beautiful landmarks made from five free packs of Pasta. This event was sponsored by the Fly Ace Corporation.
Challenges such as these are easily overcome if they put their hearts into them. In this light of unleashing the potential of students’ creativity through art, a total of nine teams from SSHS HS Department joined the said contest. Through the mentorship of Dr. Ulysses Yu, 3 teams bagged the top 3 grand prizes and 3 other consolation prizes. All teams were mostly composed of three members. The Colosseum, which brought home the grand prize of 5,000.00 was created by students from Grade 11 Jeremiah, namely: Candice Chua, Winberlyn Flores and Jeric Chua. The Cathedral team, which won the 1st prize award of 2,500.00 were made by students from Grade 9 Yellow, namely: Arvin Quisora, Denise Agero and Aegis Uistean Co Yu. Lastly, the Carnival of Masks team composed of two Grade 12 and one Grade 10 students, composed of the following: Bianca Janelle Yu, Bjorn Ulryk Co Yu and Angeline Lim, won the 2nd prize and brought home 1,500.00.
All the three consolations received a gift from the sponsoring companies. Aside from these prizes, each participant also received a certificate and a token from the organizer. This was truly an amazing event worth cherishing. To God be all the glory.
