SSHS Sunday School Ministry - 2014 Children’s Anniversary Celebration

The Children’s Anniversary Celebration last Sept 22, 2013 was indeed a moment to remember for each one of us. The program was well attended inspite of the heavy rains. Distinguished guests grace the occasion. Ptr. Don Huan, our St. Stephen’s Parish’s associate pastor, blessed us with an opening prayer and prayer of blessings for our Sunday School teachers in recognition of Teachers’ Day. Then our very own SSHS school directress, Mrs. Marianne Tan inspired us through her testimony of how the Sunday School ministry has made a great impact in her life. She has given us a timeless advice that we need to keep memorizing God’s word, be prayerful and be a lighthouse wherever we are planted as her opening remarks.

In the first part of the program, the Nursery pupils rendered to us a beautiful song entitled “Happy All the Time” and “Praise Him”. Kindergarten pupils memorized Chinese and English short verses from the Bible while the Grade One Junior pupils presented us an English song entitled “Rain or Pour” and a Chinese song entitled “求主充滿我” (Come and Fill Me Up).

For the sharing of God’s message, Pastor Edwin, a former principal of Quezon City Christian Academy and St. Stephen’s Parish youth pastor reminded us that Children are precious gifts from our heavenly Father. We need to train them up well and let us not hinder them from coming to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Though kids can often times be naughty, but we can learn a lot from them especially their childlike faith. Truly, Jesus commended Children when He said that “Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them for there is the Kingdom of God.” And Jesus took time to be with children no matter how busy or tired Jesus was. (Mark 10: 13-16.)

For the second part of the program, the Grade 1 Senior pupils memorized a Chinese verse from Psalm 121 and a Chinese song number entitled “我要向高山舉目” (Lift My Eyes Up To the Hills). The Grade 2 and 3 pupils actively danced and sang the song entitled “I’m Gonna Jump and Down” to the Lord. The Grade 4 pupils sang a very touching song entitled “The Passover Lamb” and lastly but the least, the Grade 5 and 6 pupils danced to the tune of “Every Move I Make.” All these were given and offered to our Lord Jesus Christ who is the reason for our Sunday School Ministry so that our children will come to know Him as their Lord and Savior and will grow up to be Christ-like in their attitude.

May the Lord continue to inspire us all the more to invest in the lives of our children. They are indeed very valuable not only to us parents but much more to our God. As parents, let us encourage, pray and help one another to train our kids in the way of the Lord Jesus Christ and when they are old they will not depart from it. To God be the glory.
