SSHS Reiterates School Preparedness in Times of Crisis
As the school prepares the students for their future, it also prepares them to be alert and to take immediate actions when something unexpected like an earthquake. Earthquake usually happens without warning, so it is important for the school, which is susceptible for any crises, to prioritize the safeguard of its people by equipping themselves with disaster preparedness measures. One way to prepare for this is through an earthquake drill.
School preparedness requires the participation of administrators, teachers, students, and parents, as well as those who maintain school buildings.Last November 9, 2016, SSHS held another earthquake drill spearheaded by the principal herself, not just to be prepared for any disaster but more to re-inform its people how to stay safe and secured during crisis. The emergency route was also put into practice and the crisis communication system was at their disposal in order to reduce the feeling of being afraid and anxious over what is happening; this will also help alleviate some of the possible devastation by reducing the impact of a disaster. In addition, a meeting was held after the drill to make way for suggestions to address the problems being raised and most importantly, to commit everyone involved so that each one will understand his/her role should a disaster strike.
During emergencies, to maintain orderliness and calmness is essential. Thus, as drills were being conducted, every single individual was reminded of the importance of its seriousness and so everybody gave full cooperation to attain this goal.
