SSHS - Champion in the Poster-making Contest

Last November 23, 2013, St. Stephen’s High School topped in an Inter-School Chinese Poster-Making Contest, garnering the 1st and 2nd prizes out of numerous entries. It was sponsored by the Chinese Filipino Association of Chinese Schools, held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines.

This significant contest focused on the appreciation of the traditional Chinese characters amongst the participating students rather than simply the creativity of poster- making. It was participated by more than 6 Chinese-Filipino schools, with each group having 3 students and a teacher – adviser to come up with the poster at a specified time limit. Posters were then judged both locally and internationally, thus making it more significant and memorable. The culmination of the contest paid off for selected High School students, as their posters ended at the top 2 places, bringing another record- breaking in our school history.

The 1st group entitled their poster with an idiom: “一目瞭然” meaning, “Understood at One Glance”, had Jazel Khu as the leader and her members were Johnamae Khow and Dominique Joy Tan. Their entry bested other participating entries.

The 2nd group was spearheaded by Christopher Brian Lo, together with his members: Kweane Cielo Luna, and Janelle Bianca Yu emerged as the 2nd runner – up winners in their poster “美好的青” meaning, “The Goodness of Green”.

Truly, with God’s amazing grace of talents, the two (2) posters made these selected students proud of their school and the contest adviser, Dr. Ulysses Yu, Assistant Head of the HS Office of Student Affairs. All glory be to the Head of the school, our Lord Jesus Christ!
