“Simplicity is the highest goal, achievable when you have overcome all difficulties. After one played a vast quantity of notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art. – Chopin. Thus is true with Mr. J Isaac Chua’s performance for the SSHS Music Appreciation Hour held on August 5, 2014 at The Auditorium.
SSHS believes that music is an essential component of education. So, every year, the school provides this significant event as one major part of students’ lives. Interestingly, this year’s program was purely classical as it presented a multi- awarded piano virtuoso Mr. J Isaac Chua, a 21 year old Chinese – American who hails from the U.S.A. As Heinrich Heine quoted, “Where words leave off, music begins.” He simply left the audience awestruck with his piano skills and musicality.
Mr. J Isaac started his solo concert by his rendition of the Chopin’s Polonaise in A-flat major Opus 53”. Followed by Mussorgsky’s Suite - Pictures at an Exhibition, where he gave each part of the suite a brief description. And as his encore number, he played Chopin’s Scherzo in B –flat minor Opus 31. Isaac was very well applauded by the audience. The program ended with him entertaining some questions related to music, making this year’s Music Appreciation Hour very educational.
Music indeed touches lives and connects people.
