"Motivating Children to Read" - Elementary Parent-Teacher Seminar A.Y. 2013-2014

One of the advocacies of St. Stephen’s High School, being a Christian educational institution that envisions itself to be a school after God’s heart and a lighthouse to the community is producing good and quality readers – developing the passion or love for reading.

With the above objective, this academic year’s Parent-Teacher Seminar for the Elem. was focused on educating the parents with the guiding principles on motivating their children to read in partnership with the school especially with the teachers.

Miss Tina Marie Calderon, a reading expert, a former Instructor and a Lecturer at the Department of English and Comparative Literature of the University of the Philippines and was an Associate Consultant and Language coach at the South East Asia Speakers and Trainers Bureau was invited to give a talk about “Motivating Children to Read”. Being a program consultant for the Assessment and Enrichment Program for Reading and now the Training manager of the Scholastic Education Group, she shared to the parents with credibility some practical ways on inspiring the children to read with so much delight.
