Dr. Ngo Tiong Tat Presented Philippine Philatelic Albums to His Alma Mater
Dr. Ngo Tiong Tat, an outstanding SSHS alumnus who graduated in 1966, is a well-known philatelist in the Philippines. He has started to collect and compile thousands of stamps since 1962 which he later came up with in his Philippine Philatelic Albums.
Dr. Ngo Tiong Tat presented to his Alma Mater, two volumes of his Ngo’s Catalog of Philippine Republic Stamps & Postal Stationeries, the first of its kind in Hong Kong since 1997. He has since devoted himself to the revision of his philatelic books by sorting out Philippine stamps issued from 1946 to 2013 and introducing a new version of the album..
The 2 volumes of his Ngo’s Catalogue of Philippine Republic Stamps and Postal Stationeries 2014, introduce the beauty of Philippines stamps to the public. He believes that through his collection of stamps, people will be able to take easily a glimpse of the history of the country, its culture and representation and the unique landscapes.
With the objective of reviving the art of Philatelism, which he thinks is gradually declining, he hopes to bring back the interest of the young generations today, since many are so pre-occupied with the presence of many other forms of media.
The school is proud to have such an outstanding alumnus who has contributed to the enhancement of the modern philatelic atmosphere in today’s world of computer.
