2 High School Chinese Teachers proclaimed as Ambassadors of the Learning Chinese is Fun Movement

In celebration of the school’s centennial founding anniversary, all events for the year are specially planned, making them more remarkable and memorable.

This year, the annual Earth Systems Quiz (ESQ) held last February 18, 2017 was made special by inviting a very renowned and credible British geologist, Mr. Aubrey Whymark as the guest speaker who spoke about very informative topic on how tektites were formed. As part of his talk, he did some very interactive experiments wherein some contestants participated and had a wonderful learning experience. He also gave out sample tektites and authentic dinosaur bones to each participant and coach.

The contest was participated by eleven schools from different parts of Metro Manila. The contest’s questions may be challenging but the three participating schools fared well so that they went back to their schools victorious. The following were the winning schools: St. Jude Catholic School which emerged as the champion; followed by St. Theresa’s College of Quezon City then Elizabeth Seton School which placed 3rd.

Mr. Miguel Cerna Cano, the school’s former Science Curricular Head, now the Science Dept. Consultant together with Mr. Frederick Gabriana, an astronomer and Mr. Robert Badrina, a weather specialist of PAGASA judged the competition.

All participants and coaches, winners or not, went home with satisfaction because, they have learned substantial information from the speaker who is a geologist and geosteerer himself. His one-hour talk held everyone engaged and so focused on the topic, “The Day It Rained Glass in the Philippines.”
